Brandt's First Beach Trip

Note: This post is very outdated!! We went at the end of May, that is how far behind I am! Please cut me some slack... ;o)

Anyway...
In May, for Memorial Day, my in-laws stayed at an RV campsite in Carlsbad. We decided to head down on Sunday night and stay for Monday to make it Brandt's first beach trip and our first trip of the summer. Well, Kenny ended up getting off work later than expected and we didn't actually get down there until around seven at night and it was already getting cold and well, you know. So Kenny, myself, the kids, Kenny's mom and step-dad, Kenny's stepbrother, Kenny's step-dad's parents and niece all crowded in the RV to eat dinner and spend time together. This was nearly impossible for the kids.

They started losing their marbles immediately and just had to be outside! Me, silly silly me, forgot their jackets, so I bundled them up in jammies and they had a fun time outside. Kaelyn enjoyed her first S'More, they chased each other around the picnic table and just had a great time being kids. So everything was going fine until sometime around 9:30 or 10 when Brandt (usually in bed at 7:30) was getting soo tired and cranky. I had brought his pack n'play and set it up, but it was just impossible to get him to calm down when he could see everyone and hear Kaelyn and Nana talking.

Then, when we FINALLY got Brandt to sleep, Kaelyn wouldn't go to sleep either! She kept saying that she wanted to go home and sleep in her bed! We all only got about 4 good hours of sleep that night, and not even four hours straight!

Needless to say the next morning we were exhausted as were the kids and there was no way on earth any of us were going to be able to make it through a whole day at the beach! So, due to Kaelyn's request, we took a morning walk to the beach, found a neat sand crab and played in the waves for a bit before heading home to take a much-needed nap!

Regardless of the disaster it ended up being, the kids had fun and I got a few cute pics! Enjoy!
